The major vaccine development research focus at UTSA has been the development of an efficacious and safe anti-chlamydial vaccine for human use. Chlamydia trachomatis is an obligate intracellular pathogen that is the leading cause of preventable blindness and bacterial sexually transmitted disease worldwide. The Atomic Resolution Microscope with aberration corrected probe is equipped with a CEOS Hexapole Cs corrector and that is capable to reach a spatial resolution of 0.78 Å in STEM mode and 1.2 A in the TEM mode at 200 kV. Spatially resolved elemental analysis by X-ray emission spectroscopy and localized electronic structure measurements by electron energy-loss spectroscopy are included. The flexible condenser system permits convergent beam diffraction and nanodiffraction in TEM and STEM modes. The Cs probe correction has been aligned at low voltages 80 and 120 kV.
